Penny Kennett - Psychotherapy Services

How I Work

I work with you in a reflective, supportive space to explore life’s concerns and invite you to move closer to living abundantly.

My approach is grounded in the therapeutic principles of a broadly humanistic perspective, of the Hakomi mindfulness-based experiential psychotherapy, and of Psychodynamic and Object Relations psychotherapy. I have an understanding of childhood development that I bring to your experiences, current challenges, and fears and hopes for the future. All parts of your experience are welcomed - they hold wisdom for you about which we can bring gentle curiosity.

I continue to deepen my work through professional development. Collegial networks, clinical supervision and further training opportunities are important to me.

Flexibility is central to my approach. I tailor therapeutic skills and techniques to meet your unique situation, needs, and goals.

What to Expect in Therapy

The therapeutic process begins with me providing a safe, confidential space where you can fully express yourself with complete openness. Here, there is no fear of being judged. You will be supported in embracing your true, authentic self.

With empathy and genuine curiosity, I will listen carefully to understand what you are experiencing — your situation, feelings, emotions, and perspectives. Together, we will work toward understanding your inner world and finding greater alignment between your internal psyche and your external experiences.

Knowing oneself comes from attending with compassionate curiosity to what is happening from within.
